This is a Lasco brand garden hose adapter fitting. It is made to thread onto a standard 3/4" garden hose end (male) and has a 1/2" PVC Spigot end on the other side of the fitting. A PVC spigot end part is made to slide into the socket end of another fitting of the same size. For instance, this 1/2" Spigot end would fit inside one of the socket end of a 1/2" PVC tee with socket (sometimes called "Slip") ends.
